It was goodbye, or farvel as they say in Danish, to our John Deere 6105 this week as it made its way to Odense in Denmark. The tractor was purchased for use in the construction of Facebook’s latest European data centre. The site which is currently under construction is set to open in 2020 and will be one of the most advanced, energy efficient data centres in the world. Facebook already have data-centres in Sweden and Clonee, just outside Dublin making this the third in Europe and the eighth worldwide.
When completed at a cost of $100m the Odense site is set to be powered exclusively by renewable energy, and will cover 120 acres, boasting over 56,000 sq metres of floor space. It is thought that the location will allow data-servers to be naturally cooled rather than using environmentally damaging air-conditioning systems, one of the reasons for choosing this location.
This is not the first time McCullagh Machinery have supplied equipment for a Facebook construction project, after sending another John Deere along with other heavy equipment to the Clonee site on the outskirts of Dublin earlier in the year. It is a compliment to our business to know that we are trusted to be involved in these hugely advanced and prestigious construction projects.
According to Lloyd McCullagh our Managing Director it is testimony to the quality of machines he sells. “We have built a reputation based on selling the best quality used machines money can buy. Nobody takes as much care or pays as much attention to detail than we do when preparing our machines. Our customers understand that buying from McCullagh Machinery means you are buying reliable equipment that you can trust, and you can rely on us to provide any back-up support required in the future. A construction project the size of this one in Denmark runs on tight deadlines and the contractors need equipment that they can rely on, they know that we can provide this.”
“Although expansion into continental Europe is not a priority for us as we are busy servicing our Irish and UK customers, we are more than happy to send machines to customers anywhere in the world who appreciate the lengths that we go to in providing premium quality farm and plant machinery”.
